Checklist for our frontyard birds
In 2002, as several of us embarked upon a year-long study of the birds of Taashuyee-Chookan.aani, river-mudflats-grassy land, (M-word Wetlands), longtime local birders Bob Armstrong and Rich Gordan assembled this 2-page checklist for all species documented by that date for the Refuge and adjacent airport area.
In some ways this document was superceded by our Hotspots report and the Important Bird Area book, both of which included checklists with actual peak numbers. But if you’re looking for a simple list, maybe to narrow down possibilities for a ‘mystery bird,’ out on the flats, then this is a good place to start.
