Often they begin with a pre-trip Scoping section, with maps and information on geology, wildlife, logging history, etc. prepared beforehand. Daily journals follow, similar in format to those in the Journals sub-category. These, however, are more directly focused on a research question, such as amphibian or bird habitats, proposed hydro or airport development, or assessment of mitigation or conservation easement potential.
