Coring mature shéix’w (red alder) with an increment borer on East Middle Fork of Sdéini Héeni, man’s name creek (Staney Creek, on Tàan, sea lion (Prince of Wales). For some measurements such as age of trees, no high-tech devices promise to replace good old elbow grease in the near future. This matriarch germinated around 1907 and is still vigorous.
