Resources from Discovery’s early days
In winter 2021-22, we’re pulling together materials for our Nature Studies naturalists, for units on bones and tracks. Bones—especially skulls—are wonderful for hands-on indoor activities. And tracking is about the coolest thing you can do with kids in snow. In this 10-megabyte pdf, I’ve combined ‘historic’ graphics from our pre-digital origins with more recent information on humanity’s closest relatives.

Okay, here’s one more, from the super-geeky dichotomous key to Southeast mammals. We use it in conjunction with the Mammal-maze—a table-sized skull-ID sheet with nested boxes, shown on this document’s coverpage, above.

Each participant chooses a skull from Discovery’s collection and advances it toward the species boxes according to steps in this dichotomous key
