Best wishes for 2024! I noticed on the trail, this January 1st, that more complete strangers say “Happy New Year!” than for any other national rest-day. Feels like we’re all about ready for a good one.
On January 6th, with Steve Merli and Hank Lentfer, I climbed to a motion-sensor camera we’d placed at 1,120 feet. We hoped it would shed light on a long-standing mystery; Why have the billies disappeared from all of our other goat-cams after around mid-December? Nannies and young goats continue to use these sites all winter.
First mature male to appear on our winter-billies cam, just after rut ended, and most of the big guys left the nanny range.
