Early-morning birdsong & veg-structure surveys
In spring and early summer of ’86, until birdsong tapered off, Koren Bosworth and I conducted morning birdsong transects, simultaneously with vegetation assessments, according to the Adamus protocol for wetland assessments. (CBJ’s first one; not the more recent and comprehensive ones concluding in 2015) For me this was pre-computer, and I still have my handwritten notes. Recently I transcribed the entire Valley collection, housed currently in my annual FNs journal for 1986.

Hopefully this now-historical document will contribute to a better understanding of changes to birds and their habitats, as the Valley becomes progressively more “connected” for humans and fragmented for our wild neighbors.
