Vignettes from an evening visit to Granite Basin, just a couple hours above downtown Juneau. Thoughts on the connections between bedrock geology and plant/animal communities. Late September is statistically the rainiest part of our year. Blue-sky days like today really bring out the hikers! Most got an earlier start, so we had the upper basin to ourselves as sun dipped below the western horizon.
