Jánwu of Áak’w Aaní
On Feb 6, 2026, I gave a talk in the Fireside series at Glacier Visitor Center. It was recorded, and the live version archived for awhile on Discovery facebook, but we didn’t promote it on social media because the plan has been to make a more professional version. I’ve just created a more polished, narrated 30-minute slideshow, with a lot more video, some of the best from 6 years following our shaggy mountain neighbors. Took awhile to get around to this upgrade (sorry), because our town seems to be facing a lot of low-country distractions these days 🙂
Even if you attended the February event, I think you’ll enjoy the added movies, and better photo-&-graphics quality in this Vimeo version. Movies were used only sparingly in my talk, because mixing powerpoint and video makes me nervous. I sort-of made up for that by playing a 5-minute ‘Jánwu-best-hits’ loop while folks filtered into the auditorium. That too should ultimately be loaded here, for playing from JuneauNature.
For me, the most interesting part of the Feb-6 Fireside were the questions and comments afterward. Lots of important goaty stuff that I hadn’t had time to cram into a 40 minute talk. Hopefully we can resurrect that discussion, and present it here as supplement to this Intro to Jánwu video-story.
