Chapter in Summit to sea

Sample page from my highcountry chapter.
Preparing for the Goatlandia class coming up, June, 2023, seems high time I got this chapter posted to JuneauNature. The alpine was my first love when I came to Lingít Aaní in 1977. I spent as much time as I could up there, and read everything I could find on it. Nearly half a century later I seem to be coming back round to that fascination, as I try to understand the alpine’s most iconic mammal, Jánwu.
In my encyclopedic draft called Summit to sea: Terrestrial, coastal & freshwater habitats of Southeast Alaska, I have a chapter describing the high country of Lingít Aaní in terms of elevational zones. I may be a lowlander these days, but Jánwu keeps drawing my eyes up there.
