Off trail in Áak’w Táak, inland from little lake (M-word Valley)
What a great field day! Discovery Southeast and the Southeast Alaska Land Trust (SEALT) are natural partners. While our missions&programs may focus on children/teachers, and land, respectively, you can’t have one without the other. Last summer, we began what many hope will become a lasting tradition, exploring back-to-back Discovery&SEALT parcels in the River Road neighborhood, July, 2021. This year, in mid-July, 2022, we moved south a bit, and plunged into a vast wetland that few residents have fully explored.
Check out our 11 minute slideshow on this second joint adventure. Thanks to Koren Bosworth for botanical pics and observations, Cathy Pohl’s ears&eyes for the birdnotes, and Jordan Tanguay’s lovely video clips.
