P1000 in the alpine, checking out a billy group at 700 yards, who probably never saw us.
First tests of Nikon P1000
On July 18th, 2021 Steve Merli, Cathy Pohl and I climbed Shaa Tlaax, moldy top (Mount Juneau). This alpine ridge is wonderful summer habitat for probably the same goats I can watch from October to May, right outside our apartment above Yada.at Kalé, the downtown high school.
We had some great wildlife ‘encounters’ with ornery white things who you’d guess from watching this video were only a stone’s throw from the camera. Actually, thanks to its “interplanetary” zoom range, closest we got to a goat was about 4 football fields away. Great tool for observing wildlife without getting ‘in their faces.’
