Sealaska Heritage is wrapping up a 10-day culture camp for middle school students. I came along to share information about Lingít place names and locations of camps and villages. It was kind of a slow day for humpback whales, but the kids really lit up when a lively pod of cheech, porpoise, joined us. Should have asked if any of the students were Chookaneidí, who claim porpoise as crest.
